Pre-Oscars I watched A Real Pain. I had been excited to see it since before its release (love Roman Roy forever), but I didn’t really like it? I was just waiting for something to happen and not much does. But this line stuck with me:
I know that my pain is unexceptional so I don’t feel the need to burden anyone with it.
As someone with exceptional pain, I still feel that way. Unless your pain is acute or becomes your whole personality, it’s yours to bear mostly alone. But we expect that, especially the kind of generational pain Jesse Eisenberg is talking about in the film. Also, how are the two main characters traveling with what look to be half empty carry on duffels yet manage to have a full sized tube of toothpaste?
Anyways…
Things I’ve felt strongly about lately:
I got this winter coat from (the?) Gap and it makes me feel like I’m wearing a duvet cover but also gives me a waist and I love it. Get with the Gapaissance.

I’ve been obsessed with Mary Ellen Matthews, who takes the bumper photographs for SNL, since high school. She’s got a book out of her favorite snaps.
This article talks about all the reasons restaurants are leaving Resy for OpenTable, but I’d like to talk about how unusable the Resy app has become! It’s as if there are only budget omakase restaurants or sold out hotspots, it’s impossible to accurately search by neighborhood and the app loses your spot in its repetitive restaurant list ALL the time.
Croissant Gin (it’s in Australia, sorry).
